There is a wide variety available from swanky hotels and resorts to the more humble digs. Everyone has a different expectation from their dream vacation. For some it is simply an occasion to unwind, indulge in a relaxing massage or wile the time away reading and snoozing on the beach with a refreshing drink, to others it is to experience the culture and local colour. Some others prefer to take in the local sights or hit the hot spots, the most “happening” places that the destination has to offer. This is the most unique thing about Goa, it has all this and more to offer.
Panjim, the capital city of Goa bustles with activity. This pretty town has preserved its Portuguese culture beautifully. There are numerous cafes and restaurants in Panaji and one of the best ways to experience this lovely place is to take a walk or just watch the sunset on the lovely boulevard along the River Mandovi’s edge.

Basilica of Bom Jesus, built in the 16th century is one of the most famous churches of Goa. The mortal remains of St. Xavier, who is the patron saint of Goa, is kept in a silver casket, isenshrined here. Rachol Seminary, Church of St. Ana, Church of Mae de Deus are some other churches that you may want to put on your itinerary.
Those of you, who get a kick out of collecting souvenirs for yourselves and those at home, enjoy the attractions of the exotic weekly bazaars in Mapusa. Every Friday, you will find tourists as well as the locals thronging its streets to get pretty curios from lovely brass lamps to lovely trinkets, shawls and other knick-knacks. Most localities boast of a “flea market” or a “Friday night market”, these are great places to browse and sometimes to find lovely treasures.
